On Thursday, August 4th, Upper Cut Promotions will hold the official weigh-in for “Hot August Fights” at Herf Cigar Lounge, located at 1107 Firehouse Alley, Sacramento beginning at noon.
Tickets begin at $10 for general admission. $25 VIP tickets include a beverage, cigar and access to the fighters.

On Friday, August 5th an evening of professional boxing and mixed martial arts emanates from the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton, Sacramento and is headlined by rising middleweight star Amari Jones (6-0, 6 KOs) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Jones will be taking on Michael Lemelle (3-10-1) of Arlington, Texas in a six-round bout.
In the intriguing co-feature, Joeshon James (6-0, 3 KOs) of Sacramento meets Leemont Johnson (6-1, 4 KOs) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in a six-round middleweight special attraction.
Former amateur standout Cain Sandoval (5-0, 5 KOs) of Sacramento takes on experienced veteran Daniel Evangelista Jr. (20-14-2, 16 KOs) of Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico in a six-round lightweight affair.
Former amateur standout Shamar Canal (1-0, 1 KO) of Albany, New York will look to impress those in attendance as he takes on Dan Hernandez (0-1) of Riverside, California in a four-round featherweight attraction. Canal, promoted by Devin Haney Promotions, was an elite amateur at the national and international level before the pandemic stalled amateur boxing.
Rounding out the boxing portion of the card, power-punching Angel Chavez (6-0, 5 KOs) of Salinas will see action in a six-round super middleweight bout.
On the MMA end of the bill, Ethyn Ewing of Anaheim Hills meets Rome Ottolini of Sacramento in a three-round featherweight fight, while Steve Clacken of Vallejo takes on Salvador Martinez of Stockton over three rounds at the middleweight limit.
