Professional and amateur boxers alike will return to the ring in Sacramento area. Nasser Niavaroni of Uppercut Promotions has vowed not to let the COVID-19 pandemic stop him from hosting boxing matches. Fighters will take to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel starting Oct. 8. The matches will include boxers from the area, including Amari Jones of Oakland, who would have made the U.S. Olympic team had he not decided to get into pro boxing instead due to the pandemic. Ranked No. 1 in the U.S. in two different weight divisions, Jones is expected to fight for a championship early in his career. Niavaroni said boxing fans will be in for a special treat when Jones — he will be on the featured fight card — steps into the ring. See more in the video above.
