Salinas native Lizette Lopez earned a victory in her professional boxing debut.
Lopez defeated Neveah Martinez of Victorville on May 13 at the “May Madness: Show Up or Shut Up” event at the Doubletree by Hilton in Sacramento.
Of the victory, Lopez said, “It was amazing. Out the gate, I was able to show off my boxing skills and I came out on top. I thought, I don’t know, I thought I was going to have a heart attack.”
The featherweight defeated Martinez in four rounds. Lopez was named Fighter of the Night and her match earned the title of Best Bout.
Lopez is a southpaw who trains at MXN Boxing Center in Salinas.
